09:10: ICANN Update and DNS Security information

  • Key update from ICANN59 meeting will be shared to the technical stakeholders attending PacNOG. How to engage and stay abreast with developments in ICANN. It is also critical for network operators in the region performing DNSSEC validation to be aware of the upcoming changes to the DNS Root zone KSK rollover.

09:35: APNIC Update and future planned initiatives

  • This presentation is designed to update the Pacific network operations industry on what is happening around the world with Internet resources. It also takes a closer look at the the upgrade of APNIC whois to version 4 including the implementation of an organization object and what this change will mean. Along with exploring the importance of building security incident response capabilities, and future planned future initiatives.

10:30: APNIC IPv6 deployment & ANYCAST Cloud Services

  • About fifteen years ago, APNIC received a /35 under minimum allocation size criteria. With the lack of IPv6 backbone provider at that time, we manage to deploy IPv6 gradually and learned from it. Fast forward to the present time and we are now deploying IPv6 from cloud service provider as anycast.

11:00: Traffic Engineering with MPLS TE

  • Traffic Engineering (TE) is a technique that help network operators to manipulate packet flows to attain more uniform distribution of traffic across multiple path. Be able to force traffic onto specific path allows the operator to get the most out of the existing network capacity while making it easier to deliver consistent service levels to customers at the same time.

11:45: Upgrading to a Full IP HUB, experience and challenges

  • Telecom Fiji currently has implemented an upgrade for their VSAT Networks from the legacy HUB to a full IP HUB, bringing with it greater efficiencies, and new services such as VOIP, Broadband, IPVPN and IP Backhaul. This case presentation will cover the IP network scope, planning, choices and challenges during the implementation of the upgrade and migration of customers to the new platform, as well as benefits and lessons.
