- Abstract: A user's digital presence is the commodity of
the internet. Everything is tracked and worth something. The
software used to access the internet leaks information, the user's
behaviour can be tracked.

11:50: Lets Encrypt: automate all the things

- Abstract: With Let's Encrypt offering free TLS
certificates to anyone who can prove control over a hostname, there
is simply no excuse not to deploy TLS everywhere. Encrypt all the
things! However, Let's Encrypt certificates have only a short
validity window of 90 days, after which they must be renewed. This
presentation highlights some tooling that can automate these regular
renewals, ensuring certificates stay valid without need for a human
operator.

12:20: OpenLI: An Open-Source Alternative for Lawful Intercept
- Shane Alcock, University of Waikato
- Abstract: Increasingly, governments are passing
legislation that require network operators to be capable of
delivering targeted customer traffic to a law enforcement agency in
real time. This is a challenging problem for operators with many
potential pain points, especially when encountered for the first
time. Commercial solutions are available, but these are typically
very expensive and are designed to suit the needs of large service
providers. However, an alternative now exists: OpenLI is an
open-source implementation of the ETSI standards for lawful
intercept. This talk will introduce OpenLI, explain how we were able
to create a viable low-cost alternative to the commercial offerings
and reflect on our success so far with the New Zealand operator
community, as well as announce our plans to encourage uptake
throughout the Asia Pacific region.
