Monday 6th July 2026
Venue: TBD, Suva
08:30: Registration opens

- Fred Christopher, Manager, PITA
ICANN86 Readout
- Save Vocea, Vice President of Stakeholder Engagement for Oceania, ICANN
- An up-to-date high-level report from the recent ICANN86 meeting.
An opportunity for regional technical stakeholders to hear the
status of technical topics of interests to inspire discussion and
participation in the ICANN process. Special mention around how DNS
Abuse mitigation has been addressed at ICANN with related topics to
promote digital inclusion.
IP over DWDM: What IP folks should know
- Tashi Phuntsho, FLEXOPTIX
- Coherent pluggable optics such as 400ZR/ZR+ and 800ZR/ZR+
are starting to blur the traditional line between IP routers
and DWDM systems. This opens the door to a much simpler
network model: remove transponder layers, drive wavelengths
directly from router ports into an open line system, gain
better visibility into link conditions, and reduce power
consumed per bit. This talk will recap coherent fundamentals,
discuss what makes IPoDWDM a practical option for both data
centre interconnects (DCI) and regional backbone links,
and review what IP folks should consider before going optical.
SSH with public keys
- Philip Paeps, Network Startup Resource Center
- A large proportion of security failures are due to passwords.
SSH (Secure SHell) is by far the most commonly used protocol
for remote access to servers and network devices.
This tutorial teaches how public keys can be used with SSH
to eliminate the risks associated with passwords as well
as to improve the usability of SSH across e.g. jump hosts.
We introduce public/private key cryptography, ssh-agent, agent
forwarding, multi-hop authentication and SSH key management
in a way that is relevant for network engineers operating
production internet infrastructure.
Standardising Fibre Network Information for Resilience,
Planning and Coordination
- Warren Finch, IXP Development Expert, Internet
Society
- The session introduces the Open Fibre Data Standard (OFDS) and
examines the key drivers and practical considerations for
adopting common approaches to fibre network information across
operators, regulators, infrastructure owners, and emergency
response stakeholders.
Threat Landscape from the Incident Response Community Perspective
- Adli Wahid, APNIC
- Discussions around the "threat landscape" often focus on
ransomware, infostealers, surveillance, and data breaches,
which can appear as business as usual. However, the growing
use of AI in vulnerability discovery is increasing pressure
on response times and intensifying the urgency to defend
networks. This presentation will highlight current challenges,
recent case studies and explore potential solutions.
